And so it begins…
The dark mornings and evenings. The ice and the snow. The Christmas music.
This morning when I left for work it was dark. This evening when I returned from work it was dark. That means that I spent all my waking hours of light inside an office building – in a cubicle with no window. Depressing.
Not deterred, I set out grocery shopping with enthusiasm for the meal plan I am determined to follow this week running through me. The electronic doors parted, saving me from the blowing snow. I stepped inside only to be hit with something I wasn’t quite ready for – Christmas music!!! I guess retailers figure since Remembrance Day is over, Christmas music is fair game. I am a big fan of Christmas music but I am still recovering from the month of October which for my family includes three birthdays (my daughters’ and my dad’s), Thanksgiving (yes we celebrate Thanksgiving in October here in Canada) and Halloween. This October also included a nasty bout of strep throat for both me and my eldest daughter, which we were both lucky enough to get again this past weekend.
With visions of sugar plums dancing in my head, I finished my grocery shopping, headed back out into the North Pole and drove my sleigh home to make my chili dinner. It was delicious if I do say so myself. Now it’s time for me to settle in for a long winter’s nap.
