Grocery Shopping Dancing, Ellen!

Grocery Shopping Dancing, Ellen!

Ellen, my girls love dancing and will dance anywhere. They made this routine grocery shopping trip fun when they turned this grocery aisle into their own dance floor!

“What’s An Ellen?”

“What’s An Ellen?”

LaunchMeEllengraphic

Kids say the darndest things.

When discussing the illustrated poem we wanted to create for you, your name obviously came up several times. “Send this to Ellen.” “Launch Me Ellen.” “Ellen will love your drawings.”

My youngest daughter, Sarah, 6, was all for contributing her illustrations to the cause and was very active in the discussion of the final product. However, before she 100% committed to anything there was something she needed cleared up, so she asked very matter-of-factly, “What’s an Ellen?”

This is not something I would have thought to explain to her. She knows who you are. When she was a preschooler, and the only one still at home, she and I danced in the living room with you everyday. Nowadays she loves watching video clips on your website. One of her favourites is the little boy singing along to Bruno Mars.

I guess she simply couldn’t imagine that we would be sending a poem that her mommy wrote and that she and her sisters illustrated, to the Ellen that we watch on tv.

Her always helpful sister Beth, 8, did not miss a beat to clarify things. Here is Beth’s answer to “What’s an Ellen?”

“Ellen has short, yellow hair.”

“She always wears those tuxedo things.”

“I am pretty sure she wears mascara because her eyes are always very black.”

“She talks to people on tv.”

“She is very funny and makes people laugh.”

April 19 – Give your partner a meaningful gift

April 19 – Give your partner a meaningful gift

AprilShowerslogopinterest

Today, give your partner a meaningful gift. It does not have to be expensive. In fact, you and your partner should decide on a price limit. A homemade gift is even easier on the wallet. Most importantly, make it meaningful! It could be as simple as a new pen or the classic mixed tape (which today would be a playlist). Just make sure it is a gift from the heart! Long distance couples, show your partner the gift you got him/her on video chat. If it is not too expensive, mail it to him/her too. If mailing it is not practical, save it to give to him/her the next time you are together.

April 18 – Hold hands/Go for a walk and take pics

AprilShowerslogopinterestToday, hold hands as much as possible! In public or in private, no matter what you are doing, hold hands if physically possible.

Long distance couples, today your “task” is to take a walk and take pictures of anything that reminds you of your partner. Then send him/her the pictures and your explanation of why it reminded you of him/her.

Launch Me Ellen! A Mother’s Plea to Ellen DeGeneres

Launch Me Ellen! A Mother’s Plea to Ellen DeGeneres

LaunchMeEllengraphic

Hey Ellen and interested visitors/potential supporters :)

What is Launch Me Ellen all about? The short version is that I need Ellen to help me LAUNCH (clever, no?) my writing career. I need to write like Ellen needs to make you laugh. I want to have a more flexible work (and by work I mean write) schedule so I can be home to care for my three wonderful daughters, ages 10, 8 and 6. I want to have flexibility (and by that I mean I want to be able to work wherever I can bring my laptop) in where I work.

My name is Terynn and I am 38 years old. My fiancee’s name is Heidi. I live in Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia, Canada. Heidi lives in Wichita, Kansas, USA with her three children ages 17, 14 and 4.

Ellen, please help me launch my writing career so Heidi and I do not have to follow up on our backup plan of approaching a producer for a reality show of our life.

Having been a Girl Guide I learned to ”Be Prepared” so I have already written (of course) the theme song they could use.

Note: Sing to the tune of The Brady Bunch. If you cannot remember said tune, click the link above to listen to it on YouTube. See original lyrics below before reading the ones I wrote:

Original Brady Bunch lyrics:

Here’s a story,

of a lovely lady,

Who was bringing up three very lovely girls.

All of them had hair of gold,

Like their mother -

The youngest one in curls.

Here’s a story,

Of a man named Brady,

Who was bringing up three boys of his own,

They were four men,

Living all together,

Yet they were all, alone.

Till the one day when the lady met this fellow,

And they knew it was much more than a hunch,

That this group might somehow form a family,

That’s the way we all became the Brady Bunch.

The lyrics for my reality show:

Here’s a story,

Of a lovely lady,

Who was bringing up three very lovely girls,

All of them had hair,

As did their mother,

And all of them had curls.

Here’s a story,

Of a woman named Heidi,

Who was bringing up three children of her own,

They were four people,

Living all together,

In their Kansan home.

Till the one day that these two ladies said hello,

And they knew it was much more than a hunch,

That if ever they were to live in the same country,

They would become the lesbian Brady Bunch.

Come back to read more reasons you should launch me Ellen :)

For those who have read this and who want to help me succeed in getting Ellen’s attention and writing from home so I can be with my daughters and see Heidi and her children more frequently, please read the rest of the Launch Me Ellen campaign right here on musingsofamom.net  and share what you like! Please help me get Ellen’s attention! And Ellen, if you are reading this please consider helping me out!

April 17 – Send your partner a love note in the mail

April 17 – Send your partner a love note in the mail

AprilShowerslogopinterest

Send your partner a love note in the mail – yes, even you local couples. Most everyone enjoys finding something in their mailbox besides bills and junk mail. Not a big fan of writing letters? That’s okay! This love note can be as simple as writing “I love you” on a sticky note! Just the fact that you took the time to send anything in the mail to your partner says a lot! The fact that you are completing your 17th “task” means you are committed – to the April Showers “campaign” and to your partner. So keep going! Get on it and send your partner some love!
